LOCKDOWN ⋯ PART DEUCE

And so it was — the bar on the Narrow Way is closed again for the next 4 weeks at least. This is a fuzzy little pic I took last night of our ticket spike. On it is every order that’s gone out since the curfew was called; at which point, we genuinely felt that’d be curtains for us! No support on offer and four plus years of stats showing that 80% of our trade occurred after 10pm.

So, first up, this is a MASSIVE thanks to you: our neighbours, our community and our amazing crew. When the bar reopened it was a chance to rebuild as a focused, table-service cocktail spot with great background music, as opposed to the late-night party den it had been previously (something I had wanted to enact for a while!) We learnt to run a lean operation and fight for every margin, every penny, to take the hits and the feedback and to always go back and do it again until we got it closer to being right. There have been some dark days but if I look back on what we've done over the past 6 months, how we've responded to every challenge; how we've re-crafted a beautiful, open and truly diverse space for our community in these challenging times and never flinched - I feel very proud.

Long term - who knows what the future holds? For now we’ll keep providing as much of a service as we’re allowed to. The bottle shop is up online with Seltzer packs available for same day London delivery and nationwide next day. We’ll be here again, whenever that may be, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back safely.

Biggest love,

Alexxx
